Movie Still STORYLINE:
Surya (Vijay) has graduated law school but loafs around, falls in love with a girl (Priyanka Chopra), and doesn't take his job as a junior to a lawyer ('Delhi' Ganesh) very seriously. While his sister Revathy blames him for this, his brother-in-law, played by Nasser, lets him play all he wants. Things change when Nasser is killed by a local industralist (Ashish Vidyaarthi) for whom Nasser was causing trouble. After this, Surya does a change, and works hard to right the wrongs in India. As a lawyer, he defends the poor for free against the Establishment, and effects changes in India by informing the populace about basic law. He also repeatedly bashes heads with Ashish Vidyaarthi. Ashish Vidyaarthi exacts his revenge by murdering Revathy. An enraged Surya promises to bring Vidyaarthi down in a court of law.

This is a "Mudhalvan" kind of movie. I didn't even like "Mudhalvan." It seems too darned simplistic that one guy can reform India within a couple of years like that. But at least in this one the reforming method (informing everyone about the law) is slightly better than the one in "Mudhalvan" (dismiss everybody). But it is hokey when the rickshaw-driver points out law points to a police officer. So the main story is not that good. Let's see if the love story is any better. My God, what kind of stupidity is this? The thing with the balloons -- who dreamt that insanely stupid thing up? "Luppuduppu", whatever they called it. Even normally funny Vivek seems tepid in this one. And Priyanka Chopra, she may have been Miss World, but she's not that pretty, and she can't act that well. Besides, she mainly only comes to prance around in the songs. The storyline's bad, the direction is bad, the songs are bad, the acting offers nothing special, and the comedy isn't worth a listen. Need I say more? This movie's going to be a hit like heck in India among the Vijay fans, who are going to endorse it as the Greatest Movie of the Century. Don't believe them.

The songs were a hit. I understand that. That said, I hate them. Not a single one stands out lyrically, and the music for all of them is mediocre. I heard the album once, then put it away and never listened to them again because I couldn't stand them. They don't do much better in the movie.

Vijay fans, watch it in the theater, 'cause I know you're going to love it. The rest of us, just skip the movie.
